Every year since 1968, The Alpine Village has celebrated Oktoberfest in the same was as Crown Prince Ludwig did in 1810 – with an 8 week-long festival of music, entertainment and beer! If you will be staying near West Hollywood, head over to Oktoberfest for some fun!
Recreating a German traditional event is not easy, but Oktoberfest in Alpine Village is one of the best in the world as well as being the largest and oldest celebration in Southern California. Oktoberfest events run between September 13th and October 27th on Friday and Saturday nights from 6pm onwards, as well as on Sunday afternoons from 1pm to 6pm with events more suitable for the whole family to enjoy. This year’s beer sponsors are Warsteiner and Konig Ludwig, both of whom are famous for producing some of the finest beers in the old world. More than ten thousand visitors attended the event last year and for 2013 it is hoped to surpass these numbers once more.
An Oktoberfest would be seriously lacking something without the oom-pah-pah music, and the Alpine Village festival is exceeding expectations by flying in two amazing bands directly from German itself. Die Merkershauesener Blaskapelle and the Alpine Brass Connection are two renowed oompah-pah bands from Europe, bringing with them an authentic taste of German festival atmosphere. On the Friday and Saturday night parties, the host will be none other than HEiNO! with support from Festmeister Hans and the O-Team Hostesses.
The other great thing most people associate with Oktoberfest is its food, and this event is sure to satisfy every appetite. Authentic homemade Bratwurst and Polish Sausage as well as smoked chicken and pork chops are served with sauerkraut, red cabbage, potato salad and fries, ideal for washing down with a boot-ful of beer. Moreover, the desserts are just as good: gigantic German cookies, fresh cream horns, chocolate brownies and the biggest pretzels imaginable are all served across the Oktoberfest party.
